Ustadh Ilyaas and Yusuf Badr, key figures at the El Badr Institute, were recently honored with a visit from two highly respected personalities in the field of Quranic recitation: world-renowned Qari Sheikh Abdul Nasir Harak of Egypt and Sheikh Al Muqri Muhammad Siddiq Falahi, the Chief Qari of India.
The evening was marked by a deep and insightful conversation around the intricate art of Quranic recitation. Sheikh Abdul Nasir Harak, a friend and mentor known to the Badrs for the last 13 years, and Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq Falahi, renowned for his expertise in Quranic sciences, shared their profound knowledge and experiences.
Sheikh Harak eloquently conveyed the importance of Tajweed in preserving the purity of the Quranic text. His anecdotes about renowned Qaris and their distinct approaches to recitation highlighted how their melodious voices and styles have touched the hearts of millions globally. He spoke passionately about the tranquility and solace found in the verses of the Quran, especially when recited with proper pronunciation and intonation.
The gathering was further graced by a mesmerizing recitation in the classical Mujawwad style by Dr. Qari Abdel Nasser Harak. Reflecting on their long-standing connection, Ustadh Ilyaas Badr recalled how, thirteen years ago during his studies in Egypt, Dr. Abdel Nasser had generously guided him to a proficient teacher, significantly aiding his pursuit of the Qiraa’aat variants of recitation.
Dr. Abdel Nasser, a distinguished Quran reciter and a graduate of Shariah, is recognized by Egypt’s national radio and television as an official ambassador of the Quran. His talent and dedication have led to invitations from over 40 countries to share his recitation at various events and conferences.
